Indications:
CLARICIN-H is indicated for pediatric use in the treatment of:
Upper respiratory tract infections (tonsillitis, pharyngitis, sinusitis)
Lower respiratory tract infections (bronchitis, pneumonia)
Acute otitis media
Skin and soft tissue infections
Infections caused by atypical organisms (Mycoplasma, Chlamydia)
Dosage (Pediatric):
Standard Dose:
7.5 mg/kg twice daily for 5–10 days
Alternative (Mild infections):
Lower doses may be used as per physician advice
Important:
Dose should be calculated based on body weight
Use measuring device for accuracy
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to clarithromycin or macrolides
Severe hepatic impairment
History of QT prolongation
Concomitant use with ergot derivatives, cisapride, pimozide
Administration:
For oral use only
Shake well before each use
Use measuring cup or oral syringe
Can be taken with or without food
Complete full treatment course
Reconstitution:
Add boiled & cooled water up to mark
Shake well until uniform suspension is formed
Drug Interactions:
CYP3A4 substrates (statins, benzodiazepines)
Warfarin → bleeding risk
Theophylline → increased levels
Carbamazepine → toxicity risk
QT-prolonging drugs → arrhythmia risk
