Content / Composition:
Each 5 mL contains:
* Sulfamethoxazole …… 200 mg
* Trimethoprim …… 40 mg
* Flavored suspension (Banana)

Indications:
* Upper & lower respiratory tract infections
* Acute bronchitis & exacerbations
* Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
* Gastrointestinal infections (e.g., traveler’s diarrhea)
* Otitis media (middle ear infection)
* Skin & soft tissue infections
* Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PCP)
Dosage:
As directed by the physician
Children:
* 6–12 mg/kg/day (Trimethoprim component) in divided doses
Adults (equivalent dosing):
* 160/800 mg every 12 hours
Contraindications:
* Hypersensitivity to sulfonamides or trimethoprim
* Severe hepatic or renal impairment
* Megaloblastic anemia due to folate deficiency
* Infants < 2 months
Administration:
* Oral use
* Shake well before use
* Measure with calibrated spoon or cup
* Can be taken with or without food

* Warfarin (↑ bleeding risk)
* Phenytoin (↑ toxicity)
